Konami Unveils Metal Gear Solid Legacy Series
Konami recently released a new video featuring three Metal Gear Solid stars: David Hayter, Jodi Benson, and Lori Alan. The video discusses their work on the 2004 classic game and the highly anticipated upcoming remake, Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater. The trio also shares their experience recording new lines for the game.
Dialogue in Metal Gear Solid Delta
In the video, Hayter mentions that most of the dialogue in Metal Gear Solid Delta is from the original game. However, he surprised both Benson and Alan by revealing that new lines were recorded for the remake. The video also includes footage of Benson recording in the studio.
Returning to the Characters
“It was a blast,” Alan expresses about reprising her role as Boss. She mentions how easy it was to slip back into the characters’ relationships and dynamics after all these years. Benson adds, “And twenty years have passed, you know, so then you have legacy, you have history with these characters that you get to just dive back into them, but layer on top of it. But again, the story is there.”
Voice of Eva
The video officially reveals Benson as the voice of Eva in Metal Gear Solid Delta. She explains that her career in children’s animations led to a name change from Suzetta Minet to Eva, inspired by her childhood dog Suzette Monet. Despite the change, fans still recognized her role in the game and would mention it during meet and greets.
“But then seven years ago, at various conventions where we meet and greet with wonderful fans, somebody slipped one of these wonderful games to my table,” recalls Benson. “And I said, ‘Why are you bringing me that?’ And he says, ‘Because you’re in it.’ And I said, ‘Do you know? Do you know my deep, dark secret?'”
Upcoming Release
Hayter’s presence in the recording booth in early October seems to hint at the final stages of production for Metal Gear Solid Delta. Despite Konami approaching the finish line, the official release date for the game is still unknown.
