Grammy Nominates 5 Video Games for Outstanding Soundtracks

Five video games have been recognized for their exceptional soundtracks and nominated for a 2025 Grammy Award. These games include Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora, God of War Ragnarök: Valhalla, Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, Star Wars Outlaws, and Wizardry: Proving Grounds of the Mad Overlord. They have all been selected for the shortlist of Best Score Soundtrack for Video Games and Other Interactive Media at the upcoming 2025 Grammy awards.

Below is the full list of nominated games along with their respective composers:

  • God of War Ragnarök: Valhalla – Bear McCreary, composer
  • Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 – John Paesano, composer
  • Star Wars Outlaws – Wilbert Roget, II, composer
  • Wizardry: Proving Grounds of the Mad Overlord – Winifred Phillips, composer

This marks the third year that this category has been included at the Grammy awards. In 2023, Assassin’s Creed Valhalla took home the inaugural award, while Star Wars Jedi: Survivor was the winner last year. The 2025 Grammy Awards ceremony will be broadcast on 2nd February, 2025.

Game music is not the only aspect where games are making an impact in major award shows. Genvid’s experimental choose-the-outcome, episodic Silent Hill series, Ascension, won the Creative Arts Emmy Award for Outstanding Innovation in Emerging Media Programming earlier this year. Genvid boss Jacob Navok praised the team’s dedication. Additionally, Amazon’s Fallout adaptation has also secured two Emmy awards.
