Pokémon Go Mankey Community Day guide

Pokémon Go is hosting a Mankey Community Day event on Sunday, Nov. 10, from 2-5 p.m. according to your local time zone.

During this Community Day event, players can expect to encounter a plethora of Mankey spawns with an increased chance of finding shiny variants. Additionally, there are various bonuses and perks available, which are detailed below.

How to Capture a Shiny Mankey in Pokémon Go

Based on previous research conducted by The Silph Road (via Wayback Machine), the likelihood of encountering a shiny Pokémon during Community Days is approximately 1 in 24. This means that the more you play within the three-hour timeframe, the better your chances of encountering shiny Pokémon, including Mankey.

If you’re looking to maximize your chances of finding a shiny Mankey but are limited on time or Poké Balls, consider using an Incense to attract more Pokémon. Quickly tapping each Mankey to check for shinies and running away from non-shiny encounters can help streamline the process. Additionally, keep in mind that Mankey facing in the direction of your player indicates that you have already interacted with that specific Pokémon.

What Exclusive Move Does Mankey’s Evolution Learn?

By evolving Mankey or Primeape into Primeape or Annihilape between 2 p.m. and 10 p.m. local time, the Pokémon will learn the charged move Rage Fist.

For this particular Community Day, evolving Primeape into Annihilape has a unique requirement. Players must set Primeape as their buddy and catch 20 fighting-type Pokémon to trigger the evolution. This simplified method will be active from 2 p.m. to 10 p.m. local time, providing an opportunity to evolve Mankey and Primeape more easily.

If you miss out on evolving your Pokémon during the designated period, another opportunity to acquire Rage Fist will likely be available during a Community Day weekend event in December. Alternatively, players can use an Elite TM to obtain the exclusive move.

Assessing Annihilape’s Performance in the Pokémon Go Meta

As of the current assessment, the exact statistics for the move Rage Fist are unknown. However, PvP-focused websites like PvPoke anticipate that the addition of Rage Fist will enhance the performance of Annihilape and Primeape in the meta, potentially following PvP adjustments made early in the season.

In PvE content such as raids and gyms, Annihilape ranks among the top 20 ghost-type attackers when excluding shadow Pokémon and Megas. However, it pales in comparison to more prevalent options like Gengar, Chandelure, and various Legendary Pokémon. Despite the potential of investing in Annihilape, its lack of a ghost-type fast move means that Rage Fist may not significantly elevate its status compared to established meta picks.

Optimizing Your Mankey Community Day Experience

Players can take advantage of the following bonuses during Mankey Community Day:

  • Tripled XP for catching Pokémon
  • Doubled candy rewards for catching Pokémon
  • Doubled chance for level 31+ trainers to receive XL candy from catches
  • Extended duration for Incense and Lure Modules
  • Mankey special photobombs in snapshots
  • One additional special trade
  • Reduced Stardust cost for trading

Consider activating a Lucky Egg and Incense to enhance your chances of encountering powerful Mankey during the event. For additional Mankey Candy per catch, players with the ability to Mega Evolve Heracross, Blaziken, Medicham, Lopunny, or Lucario should capitalize on this opportunity.

Furthermore, Niantic is hosting special four-star raids from 5-10 p.m., where clearing the Primeape raid will result in Mankey spawning in a 300-meter radius around the gym for 30 minutes. These raids must be completed on-site and offer another chance to encounter the desired Mankey if the standard spawning window from 2-5 p.m. falls short.
