Microsoft executive Phil Spencer recently spoke in an interview with Bloomberg, reiterating the company’s open-minded approach when it comes to having Xbox games on PlayStation. Spencer emphasized that there are “no red lines” in terms of multiplatform releases, leaving the possibility open for Xbox franchises to appear on other consoles.
Spencer’s Hint at Xbox’s Halo on PlayStation
Amid rumors circulating about the potential for one of Xbox’s flagship franchises, Halo, to make its way to PlayStation, Spencer hinted at the possibility in his interview. While he acknowledged the speculation, he mentioned that it’s still too early to confirm any definitive plans regarding Halo on PlayStation.
Spencer stated, “I do not see sort of red lines in our portfolio that say ‘thou must not,’” indicating that there is no official decision yet on a PlayStation port for Halo. Despite this, Spencer’s previous hints have often materialized into reality, leaving the door open for Halo to potentially expand to PlayStation in the future.
During the interview, Spencer mentioned that Microsoft is not currently pursuing any major acquisitions, but remains open to the idea of acquiring studios when it makes sense. He clarified that the company is not rushing into another significant acquisition right after the Activision Blizzard deal, as they are still in the process of integrating the new addition.
