Players Demand Increased Headshot Damage in Black Ops 6
Black Ops 6 players are voicing their desire for Treyarch to boost the damage values of headshots in Multiplayer, claiming that they are not adequately rewarded for their precise shots during matches. Each Call of Duty subseries has its unique characteristics and gameplay elements. While Infinity Ward leans towards realism, Treyarch games have a distinct arcade quality that sets them apart within the franchise.
In the Black Ops series, headshots often do not provide a realistic bonus in terms of damage. This trend continues in the latest installment, Black Ops 6, with many weapons, particularly SMGs and Assault Rifles, offering only a slight increase in damage for headshots compared to body shots. Despite a multiplier for consecutive headshots, the difference in damage is marginal, with just one less bullet required.
Why Players Feel Headshots Are Underpowered
Players have expressed frustration over the minimal impact of headshots, with some questioning the value of aiming for the head in the game. On Reddit, user “nothing_in” raised the issue, prompting a discussion on the need for a buff to the headshot multiplier.
One player vented, “Why does shooting people in the head not result in significantly more damage? Most FPS titles reward headshots, so why doesn’t Black Ops 6?” Another player criticized Treyarch’s design choices, stating, “Headshots should be as impactful as they were in the older Modern Warfare games, not brushed aside as useless mechanics.”
Players also argue that the low bonus damage for headshots makes the camo grind more tedious, especially considering the requirement of 100 headshots for each gun. One player emphasized, “If we’re expected to aim for headshots for camo challenges, the reward should reflect that effort.”
What Could Change in Future Updates?
Treyarch has acknowledged player feedback on the issue of headshot damage in Black Ops 6, citing the goal of maintaining a consistent time-to-kill (TTK) in gameplay. Following the beta, Treyarch addressed the issue in a Steam post and opted to retain the consecutive headshot multiplier in the game.
Despite these efforts, players still feel their accurate shots are undervalued and hope for further adjustments in future updates. Whether Treyarch will respond to these concerns remains uncertain, leaving players to wait and see if any changes will be made to address the issue.
