Microsoft Launches “Stream Your Own Game” Feature for Xbox Game Pass Ultimate Members
- Xbox Game Pass Ultimate members can now play “select” games they own via cloud streaming
- Microsoft announced this feature in 2019 and was initially supposed to launch alongside Xbox Cloud Gaming
Microsoft has finally rolled out the much-awaited “Stream your own game” feature for Xbox Game Pass Ultimate members. This new addition allows Ultimate subscribers to stream select games on the cloud, a feature that was initially announced back in 2019.
The recent update, as reported by The Verge in October, revealed that Microsoft was gearing up to test the new feature under a project named “Project Lapland.” This project aims to expand the offerings of Xbox Game Pass Ultimate through cloud streaming.
Despite facing challenges in preparing the infrastructure for thousands of games, Microsoft has successfully launched this feature. Game Pass Ultimate subscribers can now stream select cloud-playable games they own on various devices, irrespective of whether they are included in the service.
Supported devices for streaming include Samsung Smart TVs, Amazon Fire TV devices, Meta Quest, PCs, smartphones, and tablets.
Microsoft has provided a list of 50 available games that users can stream, featuring popular titles like Baldur’s Gate 3, Cyberpunk 2077, Balatro, Final Fantasy 14 Online, The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, and more. The company also plans to expand this list by collaborating with more studios.
