Story Update: Sega’s latest Sonic Central event revealed various updates, including a glimpse into the narrative of the upcoming title Sonic X Shadow Generations. However, the excitement didn’t stop there, as Sony’s ‘State of Play’ showcase added more to the buzz.
If you happened to miss it, Sega disclosed that there will be exclusive Sonic 3 movie content arriving later this year on 12th December 2024. The highlight of this announcement was the inclusion of Keanu Reeves, who will be lending his voice to Shadow in a special update. This ‘Sonic the Hedgehog 3 Movie Pack’ draws inspiration from scenes in the third live-action movie.
This ‘Movie Pack’ will be accessible with the game’s digital deluxe edition, set to launch on 25th October. Here’s a snippet from the official PR about this special movie pack:
“On December 12, all SONIC X SHADOW GENERATIONS Digital Deluxe owners can take on a new look as Shadow and play through a unique level inspired by the new movie, Sonic the Hedgehog 3, featuring the voice of Keanu Reeves”
The producer of the Sonic series, Shun Nakamura, also provided some insight on the PlayStation Blog:
“This content will not have a story that directly ties to the movie. Instead, as depicted in the trailer, it will be situated in Tokyo, a location Shadow visits in the movie.”

Additionally, the Sonic 3 movie will hit theaters shortly after on 20th December 2024. Sega also unveiled a fresh story trailer for Sonic X Shadow Generations during its livestream, showcasing the return of several beloved characters.
