A UPS facility in Ontario, California has reportedly been sending back PS5/PS5 Pro 30th anniversary bundles to Sony, causing confusion and frustration among players. Customers who were monitoring their special edition consoles observed an unexpected update from UPS indicating that the packages are being returned due to “hazardous materials irregularity.”
Initial reports of this issue came to light when a reader provided us with screenshots of their tracking information. Further investigation revealed multiple Reddit threads where players raised similar concerns. The common thread in all complaints is that packages from Ontario, California, are being sent back to the sender due to hazardous materials irregularity.
Impacted players, located in various states, have reached out to both UPS and PlayStation Support for answers but have yet to receive a satisfactory explanation. As a result, some customers are speculating that their packages may have been stolen. While most affected individuals purchased the exclusive PS5 Pro bundles, a few claim to have bought the PS5 Slim consoles.
Given that the boxes bear the PlayStation 30th anniversary logo, it’s understandable why players are concerned about potential theft. However, at this point, these fears are purely speculative.
We will continue to monitor the situation closely. If you have been affected by this issue, please don’t hesitate to contact us.
