The Game Awards Lets You Vote Inside Fortnite With A Virtual Geoff Keighley

The Game Awards Celebrates 2024’s Best Games

The highly anticipated Game Awards are set to take place on December 12, where the best games of 2024 will be honored. This year, Fortnite players have a unique opportunity to participate in the event by voting on the Best Fortnite Island of 2024 from within the game.

Studio 568 has specially designed a Fortnite island for this event, allowing players to cast their vote for their favorite island creation. Moreover, host Geoff Keighley will make a virtual appearance in the game using an avatar generated by Epic’s cutting-edge MetaHuman technology. Keighley’s digital likeness was created using a scan of himself in England, resulting in a remarkably lifelike portrayal.

Known as The Game Awards Vote in Fortnite, this dedicated hub world within Fortnite features 10 creator-made islands competing for the title of Best Fortnite Island of 2024. Players can explore these islands and vote for their favorite, with the winner being revealed during The Game Awards on December 12.

Voting will remain open until December 11 at 6 PM PT / 9 PM ET, giving players ample time to make their choice.

Additionally, a special The Game Awards Fortnite map is available for players to test their skills in a target-shooting arena. As players progress through the rounds, they unlock more powerful weapons and can compete for top spots on round- and session-based leaderboards. Access the island by using the following code: 0853-1358-8532.

Keighley envisions the voting event in Fortnite as a “prototype” for the future of The Game Awards, hinting at the potential for even more immersive experiences. He shared, “Imagine a day when we can announce a new game, and then the screen opens and you can actually jump into that game to play a quick demo!”

The most coveted award of the night, Game of the Year, features six notable nominees this year: Astro Bot, Balatro, Black Myth: Wukong, Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree, Final Fantasy VII: Rebirth, and Metaphor: ReFantazio. Explore all the award categories and nominees below.
