As anticipation builds for Geoff Keighley’s annual showcase at The Game Awards, Devolver Digital has decided to steal the spotlight ahead of time. The publisher has unveiled Devolver Delayed 2024, a hilarious awards ceremony celebrating three games that have been delayed to 2025: Baby Steps, Stick It To The Stickman, and Skate Story.
Instead of waiting for the official event, Devolver Digital took matters into their own hands and playfully recognized each game’s delay with a unique “award.” The unconventional categories and winners are as follows:
- Best Inadvertent Tripping Simulator – Baby Steps
- Best Late Stage Capitalism Roguelite – Stick It To The Stickman
- Best Glass Demon In A Leading Role – Skate Story
The unofficial awards ceremony also included a surprise fourth category: Best Color Version Of A Monochromatic Classic. The winner of this mysterious award was Volvy’s Adventure DX, a game that may or may not exist. A teaser showcasing an 8-bit side-scrolling platformer featuring Devolver’s rat-like mascot was shared, but the game’s existence remains unconfirmed.
While the ceremony was full of humor and absurdity, the reality is that all three of the spotlighted games—Baby Steps, Stick It To The Stickman, and Skate Story—will now be launching in 2025 instead of their originally planned 2024 release dates. Baby Steps was first teased at the Devolver Digital Showcase in June 2023, while Skate Story and Stick It To The Stickman were introduced the year before.
