Today’s moral from NYT? Always pay attention to what’s right in front of you.
My initial success was with the BLUE group today, but I made a misstep. Initially associating APPLE with the tech giant, I then pondered if it could be related to pies due to the presence of LIME. However, with the inclusion of INTUIT, the tech link became evident—often, the most obvious answer is the correct one.
It took me a few tries to crack the GREEN group, as I overanalyzed by focusing on words related to packaging. Using my intuition, I finally solved the YELLOW group but struggled with the PURPLE group, clicking on tiles randomly without grasping the theme—despite being a fan of the song “RHINEstone Cowboy.” Not my best 15 minutes.

What is NYT Connections?
NYT Connections is a popular word game series developed by the New York Times. The game tasks players with identifying groups of four items that share a commonality. Each group varies in difficulty level: green is easy, yellow is moderate, blue is challenging, and purple is very difficult.
Unlike other games like Wordle, in NYT Connections, you’re allowed up to four incorrect guesses and can eliminate the final group by process of elimination. The game presents tricky elements that may lead to mistakes, so watch out for homophones and other linguistic nuances that could deceive you.
The game can be played for free on the NYT Games website via desktop or mobile.
