Path Of Exile 2 Passes Over 1 Million Early-Access Players, Dev Warns Of Server Struggles

Path of Exile 2 Surpasses 1 Million Early Access Purchases

With just hours to go until the servers are live, Path of Exile 2 has already seen over 1 million players purchasing early-access editions of the game. Developer Grinding Gear Games is pleasantly surprised by the overwhelming support and is cautioning players about potential queue times during the upcoming weekend.

The official Path of Exile account recently acknowledged the situation, with Path of Exile 2 director Jonathan Rogers addressing the community in a video message. Rogers mentioned, “There are probably going to be some queues during the launch weekend.”

Rogers further explained that the team has ramped up cloud capacity to accommodate the increasing download numbers for Path of Exile 2. Despite these preparations, there are uncertainties about how the backend services will cope with the surge of players at launch. “We never expected things to blow up like this during early access,” Rogers admitted.

The early access for Path of Exile 2 will be available starting at 11 AM PT / 2 PM ET today, December 6, following the preloading phase that commenced earlier this week. Players can enter the early access for $30 on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S, with the full release slated for 2025.

Initially scheduled for a mid-November launch, the Path of Exile 2 early access was delayed due to server-side infrastructure enhancements. One exciting feature for console players is the addition of couch co-op with cross-progression.
