Fortnite Finally Getting Official First-Person Mode, But It’s Not Battle Royale

Fortnite Ballistic: First-Person Mode Launching Soon

After numerous speculations, the highly anticipated first-person mode for Fortnite is finally set to make its debut with the unveiling of Fortnite Ballistic on December 11. Unlike the traditional battle royale mode, Fortnite Ballistic offers a unique 5v5 Counter-Strike-style gameplay, where one team aims to activate a Rift Point Device bomb while the opposing team tries to disarm it.

Fortnite’s first official first-person mode launches December 11.

In Fortnite Ballistic, players do not have the luxury of respawns. Each round concludes when a team is wiped out, or the Rift Point Device is disarmed or detonated. At the beginning of each round, players are equipped with a pistol and credits, which can be used to purchase weapons in between rounds. Additionally, players can select gadgets like bubble shields and proximity mines to aid them in the battle.

Unique Gameplay and Features

  • Surviving a round allows players to retain their items, while death requires the purchase of new gear.
  • Winning a round by setting off the Rift Point Device may result in players perishing in the explosion, adding a thrilling dynamic to the gameplay.
  • The first team to secure victory in seven rounds emerges victorious in the match.

Epic has labeled Ballistic as “early access,” indicating that it may not offer a fully fleshed-out experience initially. The mode will launch with a single map known as Skyline 10, set in a cityscape.

Ranked and Unranked Play

Fortnite Ballistic will feature both ranked and unranked versions. In the ranked mode, there is no automatic backfilling of missing players if teammates depart mid-game. However, players who experience a game crash or disconnection will have a three-minute window to reconnect, a feature unprecedented in official Fortnite modes. Moreover, ranked Ballistic imposes penalties for leaving matches, including temporary matchmaking bans.

Cosmetics and Customizations

Despite its first-person perspective, Fortnite Ballistic will support a wide variety of Fortnite’s cosmetics, such as skins and emotes, allowing players to maintain their unique style even in this new gameplay mode.
