God of War Art Director Back at Sony But at a Different Studio

God of War Art Director Returns to Sony with Naughty Dog

Last year, the highly talented Raf Grassetti made headlines when he left Santa Monica Studio to join the ranks of Netflix. Fast forward to today, and Grassetti is making waves once again as he reunites with Sony, this time with the esteemed Naughty Dog studio.

In a cryptic post on X (formerly Twitter), Grassetti simply shared a message saying “new chapter” accompanied by the iconic Naughty Dog logo. It seems like Grassetti will be bringing his artistic prowess to contribute to the next project coming from the creators of The Last of Us franchise.

Grassetti’s journey with Sony Interactive Entertainment dates back to 2012 when he served as an Art Supervisor on titles like Killzone: Shadow Fall, Infamous: Second Son, and The Order: 1886. His path later led him to Santa Monica Studio in 2013, where he held roles from Principal Artist to Studio Art Director, contributing significantly to the success of God of War (2018) and the upcoming God of War Ragnarok.

In May 2023, Grassetti bid farewell to Sony, expressing gratitude for the opportunities he had experienced. Shortly after, he made the leap to Netflix to work on a new AAA game project.

“I’m happy to share that I’ve joined Netflix to embark on a new original IP AAA game journey,” Grassetti announced enthusiastically upon joining the streaming platform. Despite the initial excitement, Netflix has yet to unveil the anticipated AAA game.

While details about Naughty Dog’s next venture remain shrouded in secrecy, recent rumors hint at a player freedom-focused game in the works since 2020 under the creative helm of Neil Druckmann. Additionally, fans can expect familiar voice actors like Troy Baker, known for his work in Indiana Jones and the Great Circle, to collaborate with the studio once more.
