Some Cool New Changes to the Xbox App

Xbox App on Windows PC Introduces New Home Experience for All Players

We are thrilled to witness the growth in player support and engagement for the Xbox app on Windows PC over the last year. Today, we are excited to announce that the new Home experience, which was previously tested with Xbox Insiders, is now available for all players using the Xbox app on Windows PC. This update aims to make it quicker and more convenient for players to find their favorite games and discover new titles to play.

Enhanced Features

The Home section now highlights featured content such as game releases, events, Game Pass offerings, sales, and more. Additionally, players can explore new curated collections, recommendations, deals, and discounts. A standout feature is the “Jump back in” function, allowing players in Compact Mode to easily return to gameplay by clicking on any game card within the app.

Expanding Game Library

While many players utilize the Xbox app to access and launch titles from Game Pass, it is also evolving into a platform for discovering Xbox games that are not part of the subscription service. This shift began earlier this summer when we collaborated with partners to add all PC games with Xbox features to the Xbox app. As a result, nearly 400 titles that were previously unavailable or unreachable within the app are now accessible.

Among the newly added titles are games from renowned Japanese studios like Kemco and Kairosoft, as well as popular titles such as “Shovel Knight Treasure Trove” by Yacht Club, “Jackbox Party Pack,” and “The Invincible” by Double 11.

Universal Gaming Experience

Furthermore, over 100 of the recently added titles support Xbox Play Anywhere, allowing players to enjoy the game on both Xbox console and PC with a single purchase. This feature, along with universal cloud saves and cross-play between Xbox versions on console, PC, and other platforms where applicable, enhances the overall gaming experience for players.

Meeting Players’ Needs

With the rise of Windows handheld gaming, developers now have the opportunity to engage with current and potential players on their preferred devices. This flexibility enables players to enjoy their favorite games with friends anytime and anywhere they choose.

If your game has been added to the app recently and supports cross-entitlements, ensure that this information is included in the game’s capabilities section for better visibility and promotion.
