Sorceress’ Cast on Freeze Nerfed to the Ground
Grinding Gear Games has made significant changes to various builds in Path of Exile 2, with the Sorceress build taking a major hit. Patch 0.1.0d brought global buffs to all classes, but it also caused a stir among players who felt their builds were negatively impacted. Let’s delve into the details of this controversial patch.
Before the update, many Sorceress players heavily relied on the synergy between Cast on Freeze and Comet skills. This interaction allowed for a continuous casting of Comet whenever a target was frozen, resulting in substantial AoE damage to both mobs and bosses. In response to this powerful build, GGG decided to nerf Cast on Freeze.
The nerf to Cast on Freeze was met with backlash from the community, as the skill now requires a significantly higher amount of Energy to trigger a skill proc while reducing the Energy gained from inflicting Freeze. This change rendered Cast on Freeze almost ineffective, as it now demands 11 Freeze effects to cast a single Comet.
Many Sorceress mains were caught off guard by this change, as the announcement came just days before the patch went live. Additionally, the high cost of respeccing points on the Passive Skill Tree left players feeling financially drained, leading to calls for free respecs from GGG to alleviate the burden on affected players.
Dodge Roll Buffs
Addressing the issue of enemy body blocking, GGG introduced buffs to the Dodge Roll mechanic to allow characters to pass through enemies without getting stuck. This change from 1 unit to 0 effectively eliminates the frustration of being blocked by mobs, as it also pushes nearby enemies away to create breathing room.
Trial of Chaos Changes
In response to player feedback, the Trial of Chaos has undergone adjustments to create a more balanced and less punishing experience. Mob density within the trial has been standardized, reducing the unpredictable spikes in difficulty. Furthermore, specific modifiers like Blood Orbs and Stormcaller Runes will no longer spawn when standing on specific platforms, streamlining the overall gameplay experience.
