PSN Still Faces Challenges in Tracking PS5 and PS4 Users’ Gameplay Hours
Despite ongoing efforts, PSN continues to struggle with accurately tracking the hours played by users on both PS5 and PS4 consoles. The latest revelation came to light with the release of PlayStation Wrap-Up 2024, which brought to attention the widespread issue of inaccurate gameplay statistics.
PSN hasn’t been tracking PS5, PS4 users’ hours played correctly for years
While we have discussed this issue in the past, hopes were raised when there seemed to be improvements in the gameplay counter, as evident in my own PlayStation Wrap-Up results, which appeared accurate at first glance. However, upon further investigation, it became clear that the problem persists.
A Reddit thread dedicated to the Wrap-Up unveiled some rather amusing inaccuracies shared by users. One player, for instance, was surprised to see that they had supposedly spent 300 hours playing Elden Ring, despite barely touching the game and not earning any trophies. Another user shared their disbelief at being credited with playing Far Cry 6 and achieving a trophy, despite never even launching the game.
Additional anomalies were highlighted, with one player being informed that they had played over 50 games in a single month, while another was credited with playing a staggering 88 games within the same timeframe.
If you have also encountered discrepancies in your PlayStation Wrap-Up statistics, we encourage you to share your experiences with us.
