From Software’s Hit Game, Elden Ring, Continues to Soar in Sales
From Software released Elden Ring in February 2022, and the game has been a huge success among players. The sales of Elden Ring have been climbing steadily, with Bandai Namco reporting a total of 28.6 million copies sold worldwide as of September 2024.
The release of the Shadow of the Erdtree DLC expansion in 2024 has certainly contributed to the game’s continued success. Prior to the launch of Elden Ring, the Dark Souls series had sold a combined total of 27 million copies. Some speculated that Elden Ring had already surpassed Dark Souls’ lifetime sales figures.
Fun Fact: The entire Dark Souls series had sold 27 million units combined prior to Elden Ring’s release.
Now Elden Ring alone has surpassed that total. https://t.co/Y8yLNzdhfZ— Daniel Ahmad (@ZhugeEX) December 15, 2024
However, recent data shows that the Dark Souls series has now surpassed 37 million copies sold, indicating that Elden Ring still has ground to cover. Despite this, Elden Ring’s success has been significant, especially after receiving discounts during Black Friday.
Interestingly, From Software has not rushed to announce Elden Ring 2. Instead, the studio has unveiled a new co-op game called Elden Right Nightreign, set to be released in 2025. Although Nightreign won’t support cross-play, players on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S can look forward to participating in a test phase early next year.
