Path of Exile 2 Update: Improving the Endgame Experience

Path of Exile 2 players have been facing challenges with the game’s Honor system, respec gold costs, and mapping difficulty. In response, Grinding Gear Games is set to release a patch that aims to rebalance these aspects of the game, making the endgame less daunting. Here’s a look at what to expect from the upcoming update for PoE 2.

Checkpoints As Fast Travel Points

One of the major issues players have encountered in PoE 2’s campaign maps is the excessive size of each zone, leading to prolonged exploration times, especially in Act 3. While map size reduction has not been addressed, Grinding Gear Games has assured players that checkpoints will soon serve as viable fast travel points. Additionally, more checkpoints will be added to maps to reduce the need for extensive foot travel.

Skill Gems and Support Gems Updates

To address the underperformance of certain Skill Gems compared to the current meta setups in the game, GGG plans to update weaker Skill Gems to make them more viable for both early and endgame use. Some of the changes to expect include:

  • Buffs to Rolling Slam and Shield Skills
  • Enhancements to various Bow Skills for generating Frenzy Charges
  • Improvements to Bone Spells and Chaos Damage over Time Spells
  • Enhancements to Crossbow Skills and Quarterstaff abilities

Support Gems will also see additions and changes with the upcoming patch, introducing gems like Tremors and Bidding to enhance gameplay.

  • The addition of Tremors Support Gem for adding Aftershocks to Mace Skills
  • The addition of Bidding Support Gem for boosting Command Skills of Supported Minions
  • Changes to Fire, Lightning, and Cold Exposure Support Gems for better gameplay

Endgame Rebalancing

Feedback from players has highlighted the difficulty of the endgame content, especially with the scaling of certain map tiers leading to one-shot defeats from enemies with Chaos damage sources like Poison. GGG aims to make the endgame more manageable with the following updates:

  • Reducing the exponential growth of respec gold costs to allow easier experimentation with new builds
  • Removing elemental resistance reduction from Tier 6 onwards in maps
  • Scaling back Enemy chaos damage during the endgame
  • Adjusting mob density in Breach events and reducing Rare monster encounters
  • Addressing issues with Volatile Crystals and Volatile Plants modifiers
  • Reducing Siphon Flask Chargers bug and critical hit damage from enemies

Item and Passive Balancing

  • Changes to Freeze buildup mechanics and Charm slot additions
  • Addition of new Lightning and Electrocute passive tree cluster

Trial of Sekhemas Changes

  • Reducing Honor damage in melee combat and addressing damage over time issues
  • Adjusting Skitter Golems and Serpent Clan enemy attacks
  • Improving Rattlecage’s volcanic eruptions for better gameplay experience
