Marvel Rivals and the Role Queue Dilemma
Marvel Rivals, a game that draws inspiration from Overwatch, is facing a common issue that many players are all too familiar with – the lack of a role queue. Players are frustrated with teammates instantly locking in DPS roles, leading to a dominant GOATs meta that can make matches feel unbalanced. But what does NetEase have to say about implementing a role queue feature?
NetEase’s Stance on Role Queue
NetEase has made it clear that they believe a role queue system would limit players’ ability to experiment with different heroes. As a result, they do not have any immediate plans to introduce a role queue, especially since the game is still relatively new. Despite this, a significant portion of the Marvel Rivals community is advocating for a role queue to address the issue of unbalanced team compositions in ranked play.
Why Consider a Role Queue?
Marvel Rivals currently suffers from a meta where teams consist of three Vanguard players and three Strategist players. This composition creates a challenging scenario where tanks receive ample healing and can play aggressively without fear of being taken down. This dominance of the GOATs meta makes it difficult for DPS players to have any impact on the game, leading to drawn-out matches.
Although NetEase has ruled out a role queue, players are exploring alternative solutions to promote more diverse group compositions. Suggestions such as implementing role limits are being discussed to expedite matchmaking and create a more balanced gameplay experience. While the future of Marvel Rivals remains uncertain in terms of game balance, one thing is clear – the introduction of a role queue is not on the horizon.
