NetEase’s Once Human Mobile Port Set to Release in April 2025
NetEase has announced that the mobile port of their PvPvE sandbox action horror game, Once Human, is set to release in April 2025. This news comes after the game had begun testing on mobile devices back in September.
New Features for Meta-Humans
During an end-of-year livestream, NetEase revealed some of the new features that players can expect in the mobile version of Once Human. This includes three new scenarios: Code: Purification, Code: Deviation, and Code: Broken. Code: Broken will be a 10-day PvP scenario, while the other two will be PvE.
Additionally, a new Visional Wheel will be introduced on 16th January, bringing new weapons, powers, and rules to the game. Players can also look forward to a holiday event spanning Christmas and the new year.
Console Release and Pre-Registration
NetEase has also hinted at a console release for Once Human, promising cross-platform support. However, no specific date has been set for this release. Players can pre-register for the game on the official website, where over 26 million Meta-Humans have already signed up, unlocking various free gifts.
Game Review and Feedback
Once Human received a three-star rating from a Eurogamer review, praising its open-world scavenging gameplay but highlighting weak action and generic elements. Since its launch, NetEase has improved the in-game offerings, including cosmetic loot crates.
“Not for one moment did I expect a F2P live service offering to be anything other than an unmitigated slog stuffed with the pitfalls and unforced errors of every other game I started and stopped playing, so wildly over-saturated is this genre. But here I am, late at night again, fashioning myself a Slippery When Wet sign to put beside my water tank.”
The developer of Once Human expressed disappointment in the feedback received about the game’s second season, describing it as “quite demoralizing.”
