Steam Players Only Spending 15% Time on New Releases in 2024
According to Steam, only 15 percent of players on their platform dedicated time to new releases in 2024. This insight was shared as part of Steam Replay 2024, shedding light on the overall gaming habits of Steam users.
The Steam Replay 2024 recap not only reveals the number of games played and when, but also highlights favorite genres, unlocked achievements (with a median of 13), number of games played (average of four), and longest streak (average of six days).
Valve teases, “How many games did you play, and how does that compare to last year? Did you unlock a bunch of achievements? What about your longest streak? These fun numbers and more are in your Replay.”
In addition, players can see the amount of time spent on their most-played games of 2024, along with a summary of any participated playtests.

A recent development in a 2021 antitrust dispute against Steam has expanded into a class action lawsuit. Initially involving Wolfire Studios and Dark Catt Studios, the lawsuit now includes “any developers, publishers, or individuals” who have adhered to Steam’s 30 percent cut on purchases since January 28, 2017.
