NYT Connections today (game #566) – the answers
The answers to today’s Connections, game #566, are…
- YELLOW: “NOTHING TO IT!” EASY, NO SWEAT, PIECE OF CAKE, SURE THING
- GREEN: OBJECTS FROM GREEK MYTH AEGIS, APPLE OF DISCORD, GOLDEN FLEECE, PANDORA’S BOX
- BLUE: PROVERBIAL THINGS TO KICK CAN, HABIT, HORNETS’ NEST, TIRES
- PURPLE: STARTING WITH POSSESSIVE PRONOUNS HERSHEY, HISTAMINE, ITSY, MINEFIELD
- My rating: Moderate
- My score: 1 mistake
As someone who tends to procrastinate on household chores, I must admit I struggled with identifying PROVERBIAL THINGS TO KICK first.
Initially, I incorrectly grouped HORNET’S NEST and PANDORA’S BOX together, and mistakenly thought GOLDEN FLEECE referred to a famous ship (which is actually the Golden Hinde). APPLE OF DISCORD was a new term for me, resonating with my MacBook troubles over the years. It was AEGIS that eventually helped me connect the dots today.
Facing the final groups, I stared at the words for a while before realizing the pattern with hers, his, its, and mine at the beginning of the Purple group words.
Yesterday’s NYT Connections answers (Friday, 27 December, game #565)

- BLUE: THEY HAVE A HORN AFRICA, BUGLER, CAR, UNICORN
- PURPLE: OSCAR-WINNING ACTORS BRIDGES, IRONS, PHOENIX, WASHINGTON
What is NYT Connections?
NYT Connections is a popular word game series by the New York Times. It tasks players with finding groups of four items that share a commonality, with varying difficulty levels: green being easy, yellow medium, blue challenging, and purple very tough.
Although not necessary to solve the final group, players can eliminate options to reach the remaining answer. There’s leeway for up to four mistakes, providing some room for error.
Unlike simpler games like Wordle, NYT Connections offers more complexity and opportunities for tricks that may catch players off guard. Watch out for homophones and other word games that can obscure the answers.
The game is accessible for free on the NYT Games website on desktop and mobile devices.
