Here are the answers to today’s Connections, game #567:

  • YELLOW: SHADES OF RED – BRICK, CHERRY, MAROON, RUBY
  • GREEN: APPOINTMENT SPECIFICATIONS – DATE, DURATION, LOCATION, TIME
  • BLUE: DIFFERENT AMOUNTS OF HAIR – HEAD, LOCK, STRAND, WISP
  • PURPLE: TREE HOMOPHONES – BEACH, FUR, PAIR, YOU

  • My rating: Hard
  • My score: 2 mistakes

Today’s challenge was tough, and I made a couple of mistakes along the way. Next time, I’ll try to approach the puzzle with more lateral thinking to save time.

It’s easy to get caught up in overthinking the connections between the words. For example, I initially linked words like BEACH and STRAND to a breakup scenario before realizing the true connections like SHADES OF RED and DIFFERENT AMOUNTS OF HEAD.

Homophones also added a twist to the game with TREE HOMOPHONES. I may need to remind myself to vocalize the words as I play moving forward.

What is NYT Connections?

NYT Connections is a popular word game created by the New York Times. The game challenges players to find groups of four items that share a common theme. Each group varies in difficulty level, with green being easy, yellow slightly harder, blue often tough, and purple very difficult.

Players are allowed up to four mistakes, providing some room for error. While the game is more complex than others like Wordle, it offers plenty of tricks and opportunities to stump players. Watch out for homophones and other word games that might obscure the answers.

You can play NYT Connections for free on desktop or mobile via the NYT Games site.
