Reflecting on the “Year of Shadow”
As 2024 comes to an end, so do the festivities surrounding the “Year of Shadow” and the celebration of the “Ultimate Lifeform.” Sega introduced this annual campaign back in April 2024, which was accompanied by a plethora of announcements, merchandise, and toys. Sonic enthusiasts were treated to new Shadow-themed LEGO sets, toys, comics, and special events.
October saw the return of Sonic Generations with a brand new campaign featuring Shadow, along with DLC that included voice work by Keanu Reeves. The year culminated with the release of Sonic the Hedgehog 3 in theaters, once again shining a spotlight on Shadow. The film has crossed the $210 million mark in its initial weeks, with talks of a fourth installment already circulating.
