Ghost of Tsushima anime coming from Crunchyroll and PlayStation

Anime Series Based on Ghost of Tsushima Franchise Announced

An exciting new anime series based on the popular PlayStation franchise, Ghost of Tsushima, has been announced by Crunchyroll, Aniplex, Sony Music, and PlayStation Productions. This news was revealed during Sony’s CES 2025 press conference, with the series set to debut in 2027.

The anime will be inspired by Ghost of Tsushima: Legends, the multiplayer mode introduced in the original game in 2020. Takanobu Mizuno, known for works like Star Wars: Visions and Batman Ninja, will be directing the series. Gen Urobuchi, famous for projects like Fate/Zero and Psycho-Pass, will be in charge of the story composition, while animation duties will be handled by studio Kamikaze Douga.

Rahul Purini, president of Crunchyroll, expressed excitement about this project, stating that the anime adaptation of Ghost of Tsushima will offer fans a fresh and innovative way to experience the game. Asad Qizilbash, head of PlayStation Productions, also highlighted the potential of the rich world and mythical elements of the game to translate into a captivating anime series with the help of Aniplex.

Ghost of Tsushima: Legends introduced players to a variety of classes and gameplay modes, such as story missions, survival missions, and raids. The standalone multiplayer game was well-received by fans, leading to further adaptations like the upcoming anime series and a movie in development by Sony Pictures.

In addition to the anime adaptation, Sucker Punch Productions is working on a sequel titled Ghost of Yotei, scheduled for release on the PS5 in 2025. This expansion of the Ghost of Tsushima universe demonstrates the enduring popularity and creative potential of the franchise across different forms of media.
