Assassin’s Creed Shadows Is Adding Some New Parkour Moves

Parkour has always been a key element in the Assassin’s Creed series, and Assassin’s Creed Shadows is taking it to the next level with some exciting new adjustments to the acrobatic running style. Ubisoft has teased that Naoe, one of the new main characters in Shadows, will be able to Naruto run in the game, showcasing just a glimpse of her impressive abilities while on the move.

Ubisoft has provided a detailed breakdown of the new parkour options in Shadows, along with the updated button layout for the game. A significant change includes swapping the crouch and dodge buttons, allowing players to easily transition between crouching and lying in a prone position. Naoe can even take out her targets while in this position, showcasing her deadly skills.

Both Yasuke and Naoe can perform dodges while crouched, but it’s only Naoe who can execute a dodge while lying prone. Additionally, Naoe has a variety of new parkour moves at her disposal, including a wall-run eject and a backward dodge, as demonstrated below.

While some parkour and climbing abilities are shared between Yasuke and Naoe, Naoe’s agility and ability to perform a recovery roll while falling make her particularly adept at these skills.

The developers have also mentioned that not every wall surface in the game will be climbable for either character. To overcome these obstacles, players can utilize a grappling hook, but there will be specific surfaces with physical handholds for climbing.

For players who prefer a more streamlined experience without romances or branching narratives, Shadows will feature a Canon Mode that automates major story decisions. Moreover, the game will introduce a fresh direction for the modern-day storyline. Leak details about the battle pass rewards in the Animus Hub have surfaced online, with Ubisoft confirming that these rewards will be complimentary.

Assassin’s Creed Shadows is set to release on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC on February 14, 2025.
