English football club Charlton Athletic FC has unveiled a new gaming and entertainment space within its stadium. The Cyberlabs Gaming Box is located in the Alan Curbishley Stand at The Valley and is equipped with consoles, VR equipment, and UNEVN PC gaming desks, catering to esports and streaming purposes.
This innovative space will provide both matchday and non-matchday experiences for fans, brands, creators, esports teams, and media. In addition, the gaming box is set to enhance the football club’s media and marketing capabilities while also supporting social initiatives in collaboration with the Charlton Athletic Community Trust.
Sponsored by Cyberlabs, a digital entertainment company focusing on education, sports, and community leisure venues, the new facility is a testament to the partnership between Charlton Athletic FC and the sponsor. Sam Cooke, a lifelong Charlton fan and former board member of the Charlton Athletic Supporters’ Trust, emphasized the significance of the collaboration:
“Even if I wasn’t a fan, this partnership would be something special. It’s an honor to sponsor Charlton Athletic and work closely with the club. We’re confident this initiative will provide the club with new opportunities to engage partners, diversify revenue streams, and offer fans a unique experience at The Valley. The Community Trust already does incredible work, and we believe this space can further amplify their efforts.”
While Charlton Athletic FC is one of the latest football clubs to introduce a gaming facility within its home ground, it follows in the footsteps of other teams like Manchester City and Sheffield Wednesday who have also embraced the intersection of sports and gaming.
