League of Legends Removes Level Up Capsules and Hextech Chests
Riot Games has recently made a controversial decision to remove Level Up Capsules and Hextech Chests from League of Legends, much to the dismay of many players in the LoL community. These capsules and chests were a crucial way for players to unlock new champions, but with their removal, players are now facing a more challenging path to acquiring new champions.
Getting New Champions Is Now More Difficult
In the past, League of Legends provided players with capsules and Hextech chests containing Champion Shards and Blue Essence, allowing them to unlock champions for free. However, the recent change to progression has made it harder for players to convert earned Shards into Permanents. Players now have to grind through seasonal battle passes to unlock champions, as XP boosts have also been devalued due to the removal of Level Up Capsules.
It seems that after this patch, it will take 882 hours to get a new hero for free。

Better Battle Passes In Other Games
Players have been vocal about the perceived low-value battle pass rewards in League of Legends compared to other games like Fortnite and Marvel Rivals. These games not only offer skins but also provide premium in-game currencies back to players, making subsequent battle pass purchases cheaper. Additionally, the lack of selectability for Prestige skins, which are specific to one champion, has also been a point of contention among players.
