This collection offers a fantastic opportunity to delve into two of the most influential RPGs from the 16-bit and 32-bit console eras. The original Lunar: Silver Star Story was a groundbreaking title in the world of Japanese RPGs, introducing voice acting, animated cutscenes, and CD-quality music on the Sega CD. Its remake for PS1 and Sega Saturn, Lunar: Silver Star Story Complete, is included in the Lunar Remastered Collection. The sequel, Lunar 2: Eternal Blue, further built upon the success of the first game with enhanced gameplay and storytelling, featuring even more voice acting and a larger cast.

While voice acting, cutscenes, and high-quality soundtracks are now standard in video games, they were revolutionary features at the time of Lunar’s original release. The English voice performances and script, although infamous for their inconsistencies, have been completely reworked for the Remastered Collection. Players can choose between the new English voice tracks or opt for Japanese voice acting, along with the option to switch between enhanced visuals or the original PS1 graphics for both games.

Excitingly, Lunar isn’t the only classic RPG series receiving long-anticipated remasters this year. Konami’s Suikoden 1 and 2 are set to return with the Suikoden 1 & 2 HD Remaster, and the beloved Tales of Graces f is making a comeback with a remaster for consoles and PC. Preorders for these titles are now open for eager fans.
