Rumour: Konami And Square Enix Expected To Bolster ‘Switch 2’ Software Library With Major IP

Latest Leaks Hint at Exciting Software Lineup for Nintendo’s ‘Switch 2’

After last week’s buzz about potential ‘Switch 2’ hardware leaks, new clues about the software selection are surfacing online.

Aside from expectations of “more than half a dozen Ubisoft games,” Nate the Hate shared in a recent podcast that Nintendo’s upcoming system might also include Konami’s next Metal Gear Solid installment, rumored to be titled Metal Gear Solid: Delta and slated for a 2025 release:

“Some other third-party games I have heard include Metal Gear Solid: Delta, which is coming out in 2025…I’m hopeful that maybe it is a day and date release, when it does come to Switch 2.”

Additionally, sources suggest Square Enix is preparing to launch Final Fantasy VII Remake on the new Nintendo platform in 2025, followed by Rebirth in 2026. However, the possibility of the latest entry, Final Fantasy 16, making its way to Switch 2 seems less probable:

“I’ve had some people ask me will Final Fantasy 16 come to Switch 2 and to my knowledge, right now 16 is not planned for Switch 2 – Square Enix is prioritising Remake and Rebirth, because those are more iconic games, Cloud is a very iconic character versus Final Fantasy 16, while a good game, just hasn’t really clicked with a lot of people.”

Furthermore, the podcast alluded to major third-party developers considering a variety of ports, hinting at possible implementations of Nvidia’s DLSS and even Ray tracing technology. This diversity in game offerings demonstrates the exciting potential for the new gaming platform.

As with any rumor, it’s advisable to take these speculations with a grain of salt. The anticipated Switch unveiling is projected to occur within the current fiscal year and could be imminent.
