The 2025 F1 Sim Racing World Championship is poised to kick off with all 10 F1 teams assembling rosters to compete in the virtual realm.

Exploring the F1 Sim Racing World Championship

The F1 Sim Racing World Championship is the official virtual esports competition of F1, revolving around its flagship game franchise. The primary objective is to enhance engagement with Formula 1, particularly during the offseason for the F1 teams.

The 2025 season marks the eighth iteration of the program and will be hosted on F1 24, created by Codemasters and published by EA Sports.

Last season, Frederik Rasmussen from Oracle Red Bull Sim Racing clinched the 2023/24 Driver Championship, triumphing over Thomas Ronhaar from Kick F1 Sim Racing Team in the final round. Scuderia Ferrari Esports claimed the title of World Constructors’ Champions.

The Schedule of Events

The inaugural event is scheduled to commence on January 14th, where drivers will race 29 laps at Melbourne’s Albert Park Street Circuit, followed by three more races over the ensuing two days.

The remaining eight races will be divided into two separate events, the first spanning from February 12th to February 14th, and the second from March 25th to March 27th.

The races will be live-streamed on the official F1 YouTube, Twitch, and Facebook channels, as well as the dedicated F1 Esports social media platforms.

The F1 esports landscape has experienced notable fluctuations in recent years. The lockdown imposed due to COVID-19 provided a significant boost, with the F1 Esports Virtual Grand Prix Series Vietnam in 2020 attracting over 400,000 peak viewers.

The revitalized F1 Sim Racing World Championship made a resurgence in April 2024. Despite lower viewership numbers compared to the peak, Event Two still garnered a peak viewership of 42,877, as reported by Esports Charts, indicating the presence of an active community within the F1 esports realm.
