Beloved GTA V: Liberty City Mod Gets Shut Down by Take-Two Interactive, Angering Fans

Liberty City Preservation Project Mod Features

The Liberty City Preservation Project Mod was a highly anticipated single-player mod for GTA V that aimed to bring the full Liberty City experience to the game. This included a functioning subway, a full texture remaster, game-accurate cars, NPCs, destructible environments, and full interiors – all faithful to GTA IV’s setting.

Rockstar and Take-Two Axes Project

The lead developer, NKJellman, announced the cancellation of the project on the official mod Discord channel due to the attention drawn from Rockstar and Take-Two. Despite promises of future mods for GTA V, the Liberty City Preservation Project has been halted indefinitely.

NKJellman clarified that the cancellation was a mutual decision between the mod team and Rockstar Games, referred to as a “friendly takedown” instead of a cease-and-desist order. All download links for the mod have been removed following this announcement.

Mod Supporters Rightfully Upset

The GTA community has expressed disappointment and frustration over the cancellation of the mod, with many questioning Rockstar’s decision. Despite previous approval of single-player mods, the cancelation of the LCPP mod, which did not impact GTA Online, has left many fans upset.
