Introduction to Rookidee in Pokémon Go
Rookidee has arrived in Pokémon Go during January 2025 as part of the “Steeled Resolve” event. This Galar flying-type Pokémon has the potential to evolve into Corvisquire and finally into Corviknight, as long as you have enough candy to facilitate its evolution line.
Similar to recent new additions to Pokémon Go, Rookidee cannot be encountered in the wild. However, there are several methods to add this Pokémon to your Pokédex.
How to Obtain Rookidee in Pokémon Go
During its debut in the “Steeled Resolve” event, Rookidee can be obtained through:
- By hatching 2km eggs
- Using a Magnetic Lure
- In Go Battle League rewards
- In the “Steeled Resolve” Premium Timed Research Ticket
The most accessible option for all players is hatching 2km eggs, which can be acquired by spinning PokéStops. However, since 2km eggs are not guaranteed, there is a chance of receiving this variant.
Magnetic Lures can be bought from the shop for 180 PokéCoins. These lures have been sporadic rewards in various game activities and quests, so before purchasing, it’s advisable to check your inventory.

Another method to potentially encounter Rookidee is through Go Battle League. A chance encounter could occur even on the rank 1 reward track, but the appearance is not guaranteed, making it a more time-consuming approach.
For a guaranteed Rookidee encounter, players can purchase the $5 Premium Timed Research Ticket for the “Steeled Resolve” event and complete the first step, “Power Up Pokémon 5 times”. Pokémon caught in research encounters have a higher IV floor, indicating better stats compared to other captures.
Evolution of Rookidee in Pokémon Go
To evolve Rookidee into Corvisquire and then Corviknight, 25 and 100 candies are required, respectively.
Due to Rookidee’s initial scarcity, utilizing Pinap Berries and having an active flying-type Mega Evolution can provide extra candy. Having Rookidee as a buddy Pokémon is another viable option since it only requires a 1km walking distance. Additionally, earning candy through buddy interactions while showcasing Rookidee to friends during gift exchanges can be rewarding.
Players can also use Rare Candy to obtain the necessary candies (125 in total) for the evolution chain, although it is recommended to reserve this resource for rarer Pokémon such as legendaries or mythics.
Shiny Rookidee in Pokémon Go
Rookidee does not have a shiny variant upon its debut in Pokémon Go. The timing of shiny releases varies, with some taking years to appear. However, the shiny version of Rookidee can be viewed in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet or through content creators like MarkjurAnime on YouTube.
