First PS5 / PS6 Cross-Gen Game Seemingly Confirmed

PS5 / PS6 Cross-Gen Game Confirmed by Square Enix

It seems that the upcoming Final Fantasy VII Remake Part 3 will not be exclusive to next-gen consoles like its predecessor. Square Enix producer Yoshinori Kitase hinted at this in a recent interview with 4Gamer, ensuring fans that the game will be available on both PS5 and PS6.

Learning from Past Mistakes

When Final Fantasy VII Rebirth was announced as a PS5 exclusive, there was backlash from fans who were disappointed by the decision. While the game received positive reviews upon release, Square Enix acknowledged that limiting it to current-gen consoles impacted sales.

Unlike its predecessor, which benefited from the large PS4 user base at the time of its launch, Square Enix is determined to reach a wider audience with Part 3 of the remake series.

Multiplatform Approach

Kitase’s assurance that the next installment will not be next-gen exclusive was met with relief from fans. Director Naoki Hamaguchi reiterated the company’s commitment to releasing games on multiple platforms to make them more accessible to players.

“We want our creations to reach as many people as possible,” Hamaguchi stated. “While we cannot make any guarantees, we are dedicated to ensuring our games are enjoyed by a diverse audience.”
