The latest Epic Games Store 2024 Year in Review has unveiled some intriguing new data about the popular video game marketplace.

Significantly, the platform experienced a notable growth on PC, with a 25 million user increase year over year. Additionally, there were 94 million new Epic cross-platform accounts created, bringing the total to 898 million accounts, encompassing Xbox, Nintendo, and PlayStation logins.

In 2024, the Epic Games Store also expanded to mobile devices, now accessible on Android globally and iOS within the European Union.

At its peak, the daily active users on the Epic Games Store platform reached 37.2 million, while monthly active users peaked at 74 million – slightly below the previous year’s 75 million. Nonetheless, there was a 6% rise in average daily active users, totaling 31.5 million, with a matching 6% growth in average monthly active users, reaching 67.2 million.

One of the standout features of the Epic Games Store is its free games promotion, allowing users to claim a complimentary game every week. Throughout 2024, 89 free games were offered, with a staggering 595 million games claimed, amounting to a total value of $2,229 (around £1,855 per user, based on US retail prices). That’s quite a substantial amount of freebies!

When it comes to the most popular games among users, free-to-play titles reign supreme. Genshin Impact, Rocket League, Honkai: Star Rail, Grand Theft Auto 5, and Fortnite emerged as the top choices in terms of player spending and engagement.

Looking ahead to 2025, the Epic Games Store appears to be in a promising position, with plans for new features on both PC and mobile versions. Among the anticipated additions are the ability to gift games to friends, the option to pre-load titles in advance, and a revamped download manager for easier game update management.
