All Aboard! Acclaimed Deckbuilder ‘Monster Train’ Is Getting A Switch Sequel This Year

Monster Train 2 Announced for Switch Release

Devolver Digital’s Big Fan Games label and Shiny Shoe have revealed that Monster Train 2, the sequel to the deckbuilding roguelike released in 2021, will be making its way to the Switch later this year.

Similar to the original game, players will construct a deck of cards to combat enemies across three floors. The sequel introduces new card types, Clans, enemy factions, and a narrative that involves partnering with Heaven and Hell to defeat the Titans.

Since its launch on Steam in 2020, the first game has received over 18,000 ‘Overwhelmingly Positive’ reviews. Those who enjoy games like Slay the Spire may find this upcoming sequel to be a worthwhile addition to their collection.

Exciting New Features in Monster Train 2

The sequel introduces additional strategic advantages through five new playable Clans, each offering unique battle styles. New and familiar cards, including Room Cards, Equipment Cards, and Clan-agnostic Neutral Cards, have been added along with new unit abilities for more strategic gameplay. Players can experiment with vast card combinations and synergies to enhance combat depth.

Monster Train 2 also brings new train customization options, an Endless Mode, Daily and Dimensional challenges, run mutators, and leaderboards to provide a challenging experience filled with excitement and discovery.
