Avatar: The Last Airbender is finally getting a new spin-off

Exciting News from Nickelodeon: Avatar Returns with Avatar: Seven Havens

On Thursday, Nickelodeon made an exciting announcement for fans of Avatar: The Last Airbender. A new show, Avatar: Seven Havens, is in the works and is set to explore a whole new chapter in the Avatar universe. Created and co-executive produced by original Avatar co-creators Michael DiMartino and Bryan Konietzko, the new show has already been picked up for 26 episodes. Similar to The Legend of Korra, these episodes will be divided into two 13-episode seasons, known as Book 1 and Book 2.

Avatar: Seven Havens is set in a world shattered by a devastating cataclysm. A young Earthbender discovers she’s the new Avatar after Korra – but in this dangerous era, that title marks her as humanity’s destroyer, not its savior. Hunted by both human and spirit enemies, she and her long-lost twin must uncover their mysterious origins and save the Seven Havens before civilization’s last strongholds collapse.

With the world left in a precarious state after Korra’s actions in The Legend of Korra, there are endless possibilities for where Avatar: Seven Havens could take us. DiMartino and Konietzko are thrilled to explore these new territories over the course of two thrilling seasons.

“When we created the original series, we never imagined we’d still be expanding the world decades later,” DiMartino and Konietzko shared in a statement. “This new incarnation of the Avatarverse is full of fantasy, mystery, and a whole new cast of amazing characters.”
