Looks Like PS5’s Neglected Activity Cards Feature Is Being Fixed

February 2025’s PS5 Update Beta Improves Activity Cards

It appears that Sony is taking steps to address the long-standing issue with the PS5’s Activity Cards feature. The functionality of Activity Cards has been in question ever since the removal of the ‘Resume Activity’ option, rendering them almost useless. Despite the unlikelihood of ‘Resume Activity’ making a return, the latest PS5 system update indicates that Sony is working to enhance the Activity Cards feature.

Previously, ‘Resume Activity’ was considered the most valuable aspect of Activity Cards, and its absence led to a decline in the feature’s utility. Recent reports highlighted instances where Activity Cards were not functioning correctly, showing inaccurate information or failing to work altogether.

In the patch notes for the latest PS5 system software update beta, which is accessible by invitation only, Sony stated:

  • We’ve streamlined the process for viewing activity details.
    • Activity details are now fully visible on cards, while potential spoilers remain concealed.

Although ‘Resume Activity’ may be gone for good, these patch notes suggest that the previously flawed Activity Cards will now operate as intended. While it remains to be seen how effective they are in practice across various games, any improvement is a step in the right direction.

It is worth noting that Sony had promoted Activity Cards extensively before the launch of the PS5, making their neglect in recent times somewhat surprising.
