FragPunk introduces a refreshing take on FPS games with its innovative game mechanic called Shard Cards. These cards add unique modifiers to the game that can impact both your team and your enemies in each round. From healing abilities to bizarre effects like enlarging your enemy’s head, Shard Cards bring a new level of strategy to the traditional shooter genre.
What Sets FragPunk Shard Cards Apart?
Shard Cards are a defining feature of the FragPunk experience, offering special buffs that can completely change the dynamics of each round. Each Shard Card comes with its own set of quirky effects, allowing players to experiment with different strategies. At the beginning of each round, players receive a random selection of Shard Cards from their collection to use throughout the match.
To activate a Shard Card, players need to allocate Shard Points. The number of Shard Points required for activation is indicated on the card itself. Some cards have a variable cost denoted by the letter “N,” which means the effect is proportional to the number of Shard Points invested. Players can earn Shard Points by achieving frags, streaks, assists, or by exploring the map to discover them.
Utilizing FragPunk Shard Cards
While most Shard Cards activate automatically at the start of each round, there are Special Shard Cards that players can trigger manually. By pressing the Special Shard Card button, players can strategically activate these unique modifiers. All active Shard Cards are conveniently displayed on the right side of the Lancer’s Skills interface for easy reference.
Unlocking FragPunk Shard Cards
Players are initially provided with a set of Shard Cards to begin their FragPunk journey. To expand their collection, players must participate in matches and complete objectives. Once unlocked, a Shard Card has the chance to appear during the rule-making phase of each round, adding more variety and excitement to the gameplay.
