Defeating the Ice King in Split Fiction
In chapter 3 ‘Hopes of Spring’, players will encounter a formidable foe known as the Ice King in the game Split Fiction. What begins as a seemingly harmless cat quickly transforms into a massive and powerful adversary, unleashing a variety of attacks. For those struggling to overcome this challenge, here are some valuable tips and strategies to emerge victorious against the Ice King.
How to Beat the Ice King
As the battle commences, players will find themselves on a precarious small platform that the boss gradually destroys. It is crucial to remain in human form and continuously move and dash away to prevent falling off. This phase primarily revolves around dodging the Ice King’s incoming attacks, which are telegraphed by paw marks and area highlights. Players can use this information to plan their evasive maneuvers effectively.
Following this initial phase, a brief cutscene sets the stage for the showdown with the Ice King in a dedicated boss arena.
The Ice King will first hurl multiple icicles that players must dodge and position themselves between to avoid getting hit. Zoe can transform into a fairy to evade the icicles, while Mio must remain in human form.
Subsequently, the Ice King will slam the ground, sending ice spikes towards the players that must be leaped over as a human or ape (Mio). When Zoe notices the interaction prompt to immobilize the boss using nature’s power and bring him down, Mio should seize the opportunity to approach the boss and unleash a flurry of punches to deal significant damage.
As the battle progresses, the Ice King will summon orange spikes from above, prompting players to switch to human form and evade the spiked markings on the ground. It is essential to carefully dodge the various spikes to survive. If one character falls, ensure the other stays alive until the fallen player respawns to continue the fight.
This pattern of attacks repeats until the Ice King’s health drops to around 50%, triggering the next phase of the boss fight. He will shatter the arena, requiring Mio and Zoe to slide down a ramp unscathed while avoiding spikes.
In the subsequent room, players will encounter water, signaling the need for Mio to transform into the sea creature. However, before this transformation, surviving the storm summoned by the Ice King through dashing and evading is paramount. Once the storm subsides, diving into the water and activating the prompt to launch the green plant seed upward for the other player to grab and throw at the boss as Groot is crucial. Meanwhile, Mio should swiftly shift to an ape form, approach the stunned boss, and unleash attacks.
The Ice King will then freeze the pond and unleash fireballs that track the players. As an ape, players must evade the fireballs, which will detonate after some time. When the storm reappears, players should repeat the previous steps. Finally, when the ice melts, players should throw the seed upward and resume the assault on the Ice King.

Destroying the pink pearl atop the Ice King’s head signifies the final blows needed to defeat him in Split Fiction.
