NYT Connections today (game #645) – the answers

The solutions for today’s Connections, game #645, are:

  • YELLOW: FILAMENT – FIBER, STRAND, STRING, THREAD
  • GREEN: UNINHIBITEDNESS – ABANDON, FREEDOM, SPONTANEITY, UNRESTRAINT
  • BLUE: KINDS OF TRUCKS – DUMP, GARBAGE, MONSTER, PICKUP
  • PURPLE: BANDS MINUS THE NUMBER FIVE – BEN FOLDS, JACKSON, MAROON, MC

My rating: Easy

My score: Perfect

My experience with spotting BEN FOLDS in Connections brought a sense of familiarity – a talented artist, remarkable songwriter, and forever linked with the number five. The purple group of BANDS MINUS THE NUMBER FIVE was the easiest for me to decipher in a while. JACKSON and MAROON also quickly caught my eye, but I took a chance on MC before realizing they belong to a heavy rock band.

If you’re looking for an entertaining game to play with a friend, try naming artists with numbers in their names and see how far you can go. Challenge yourself by remembering numbers like 15 and 18 to reach bands like Matchbox 20.

Seeing MONSTER and PICKUP grouped together made solving the Green group equally straightforward. It’s interesting how my lack of spontaneity reflected in getting UNINHIBITEDNESS last.

What is NYT Connections?

NYT Connections is a popular word game series created by the New York Times, challenging players to identify groups of four items with a common link. Each group varies in difficulty level, with green being easy, yellow a bit harder, blue often tough, and purple usually very challenging.

Fortunately, you can afford up to four mistakes and still progress. And if you get stuck, the process of elimination can guide you to the final answer.

Unlike simpler word games, NYT Connections involves some complexities and tricks that can trip you up. Stay alert for homophones and other wordplay that might obscure the answers.
