Chances Are You’ve Never Heard Of Nightdive Studio’s Latest Switch Rerelease

Nightdive Studios Brings ‘I Have No Mouth, And I Must Scream’ to the Nintendo Switch

Nightdive Studios, known for their meticulous remasters and ports of classic games, have revealed that ‘I Have No Mouth, And I Must Scream’ will be available on the Nintendo Switch starting March 27, 2025.

This title, originally launched in 1995 by Cyberdreams and The Dreamers Guild, was acquired by Nightdive in 2013. Despite being a commercial flop upon its initial release, the game received praise for its dystopian narrative and profound storytelling. Renowned author Harlan Ellison, creator of the original short story, was involved in the adaptation as a co-writer and designer.

For those unfamiliar with the game, the trailer may not provide much insight into its premise. However, numerous gameplay walkthroughs on YouTube delve into the plot. In essence, the story revolves around an AI entity named ‘AM’ who wipes out humanity, leaving only five individuals. These survivors are subjected to relentless torment through tailored psychological experiences meant to explore their deepest fears and sense of guilt.

Dealing with dark and complex themes, ‘I Have No Mouth, And I Must Scream’ is an intriguing yet obscure addition to the Nintendo Switch library. Nightdive’s decision to preserve and re-release this unique title is commendable. Now, let’s take a look at some in-game screenshots…

Next Project: System Shock 2 Remaster

In addition to ‘I Have No Mouth, And I Must Scream,’ Nightdive is also working on remastering System Shock 2. While the release date for the Switch version is pending, the studio has confirmed that more details will be unveiled during the Future Games Show Spring Showcase scheduled for March 20.
