More Assassin’s Creed Shadows PS5 Pro Support Teased By Ubisoft

Ubisoft Releases Assassin’s Creed Shadows with PS5 Pro Enhancements

After some delays, Ubisoft has finally launched Assassin’s Creed Shadows. Those who own a PS5 Pro will benefit from enhancements that make the most of the console’s advanced capabilities. While the current features are impressive, the game surprisingly does not utilize the exclusive PSSR upscaling technology for its enhanced graphics modes. However, there are hints from a technical architect involved with the game that machine learning tech may be incorporated in the future.

Assassin’s Creed Shadows Technical Architect Teases Future PSSR Implementation

A recent post on X (previously known as Twitter) by Assassin’s Creed technical architect Nicolas Lopez sheds some light on the enhancements made for the PS5 Pro version of the game. When questioned by a user about the absence of PSSR upscaling, Lopez cryptically replied, “I’d stay tuned.”

Digital Foundry recently published a video discussing the PS5 Pro enhancements of Assassin’s Creed Shadows. They praised the remarkable effort put in by Ubisoft for this upgraded version, with Oliver Mackenzie of Digital Foundry even labeling it as the “most transformative PS5 Pro upgrade”.

“I was thoroughly impressed by the technical advancements showcased in AC Shadows,” mentioned Mackenzie in the analysis. “The game is filled with intricate details, from the dynamic wind and particle systems that add life to the world, to the environmental slicing reminiscent of Metal Gear Rising, to the impressive virtualized geometry and RTGI effects. Shadows creates a captivating open-world environment that immerses players and stands out among the top game worlds.”

Although the lack of PSSR implementation in the PS5 Pro graphics modes of Assassin’s Creed Shadows was noted, it did not diminish the overall impressive visuals. While Ubisoft had initially mentioned the utilization of this technology, it was absent in the final product.

Assassin’s Creed Shadows can now be enjoyed on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. For a detailed review of Ubisoft’s latest installment in the Assassin’s Creed series, check out our review.
