Pokémon Go is set to host a special Totodile Community Day event on Saturday, March 22 from 2-5 p.m. in your local time.
Expectations for Totodile Community Day
During the event, Totodile will be spawning in large numbers with an increased chance of encountering shiny variants. In addition to this, there will be various other bonuses and perks for players to enjoy.
Catching a Shiny Totodile
According to research from The Silph Road, the shiny rates on Community Days are approximately 1 in 24. This means that by actively participating throughout the three-hour event window, players have a good chance of encountering shiny Pokémon.

Evolution Move for Totodile
Evolution of Croconaw into Feraligatr during the specified period will allow it to learn the charged move Hydro Cannon.
If missed during the event, players can look forward to evolving it during a Community Day weekend event in December to obtain Hydro Cannon, or use an Elite TM for immediate access to the move.
Feraligatr’s Performance in the Meta
Feraligatr serves as a strong water-type attacker in raids and gyms, with shadow Feraligatr amplifying its strength. Best moveset includes Water Gun and Hydro Cannon, making it a competitive choice despite being overshadowed by other water-type starters like Primarina, Swampert, and Greninja.

Make the most of Totodile Community Day by utilizing the following bonuses:
- 1⁄4 hatch distance for eggs placed into Incubators during the event
- Incense lasts three hours
- Lure Modules lasts three hours
- Totodile special photobombs when taking snapshots
Take advantage of these bonuses by hatching eggs, using Incense, and catching powerful Totodile. Mega Evolving certain Pokémon like Blastoise, Slowbro, Gyarados, Swampert, or utilizing Kyogre’s Primal Reversion can earn you additional Totodile Candy per catch.
Furthermore, “Community Day Continued” Timed Research will be available until March 29, offering more opportunities to encounter Totodile with increased shiny rates and special themed backgrounds.
