Asian Champions League confirms LoL and Street Fighter 6 competitions

Asian Champions League Adds League of Legends and Street Fighter 6 to Game Lineup

The Asian Champions League (ACL), hosted by Hero Esports, has revealed the addition of League of Legends (LoL) and Street Fighter 6 (SF6) to its roster of game titles.

The Legend Cup, a tournament presented by streaming platform Huya, will showcase LoL featuring former professional players. Street Fighter 6, on the other hand, will grant two direct entries to the Esports World Cup later in the year.

In 2024, the Legend Cup ran twice with 10 team leaders in each edition, selecting players from a pool of former pros or free agents. The event is set to commence on April 10th and conclude on May 11th, boasting a prize pool of $167K (~£128,008).

Meanwhile, the ACL Street Fighter 6 tournament will offer a prize pool of $30,000 (~£23,202) and include open qualifiers, allowing any esports enthusiast to participate with no restrictions. The competition is scheduled for May 17th and 18th, with Hero Esports partnering with DreamHack to host the event offline.

Expansion of Game Lineup

With the inclusion of LoL and SF6, Asian Champions League now features nine game titles, adding to its existing lineup of Dota 2, Counter-Strike 2, Honor of Kings, Teamfight Tactics, Delta Force, VALORANT, and Crossfire.

Hero Esports, based in Shanghai, and established in 2016 (previously known as VSPO), is a major esports organizer in Asia with 12 office locations. The company has collaborated with various esports competitions, including the Olympic Esports Week, Hangzhou Asian Games 2023, and the Esports World Cup.

Having received a $265m (~£219m) investment from Saudi Arabian esports and gaming firm Savvy Games Group, fully owned by the Saudi Arabian government’s Public Investment Fund (PIF), Hero Esports continues to make strides in the industry.

Jonny Wang, CEO of the Asian Champions League, commented: “Through our collaboration with DreamHack, we aim to create an immersive offline experience for the ACL Street Fighter 6 Tournament. We believe that bringing players together in a live setting will enhance the competitive spirit and foster community engagement.”
