The iconic role-playing game Chrono Trigger, released in 1995, is marking its 30th anniversary with Square Enix revealing an impressive sales milestone. The game has now sold over five million copies across all platforms since its initial launch on the Super Famicom.

Square Enix highlighted the enhancements made to this timeless classic through various ports and remasters over the years. They stated, “This game, which was released for the Super Nintendo on March 11, 1995, has since been ported and remastered for various hardware platforms, and is still loved by game fans around the world as a masterpiece with a total of over 5 million copies shipped worldwide.”

Looking ahead, Square Enix has teased “various projects” to celebrate Chrono Trigger’s 30th anniversary that will extend beyond the game’s virtual world. While the game is currently unavailable on the Switch, there’s hope among fans that Square Enix may consider a release for modern Nintendo platforms in the future.
