American Truck Simulator Madness at AGDQ 2026
Awesome Games Done Quick 2026 is drawing to a close, but it may have already reached its peak on Thursday, January 7. That day delivered a race in American Truck Simulator that was so bonkers, so wonderfully chaotic, it’s primed to go down in GDQ history.
You might be scratching your head, wondering how one speeds through American Truck Simulator, a game that’s largely about wandering vast, lonely highways with no set goals apart from hitting the gas and going. The most obvious way, of course, is to set up a point-to-point race between two equally skilled truckers starting at the same endpoint.
That’s exactly how the AGDQ run kicked off—with a race from Amarillo, TX to… well, the destination isn’t really the important part, as you’ll see shortly. Competitors anarchyasf and Lazlotus, who took on the personas Big Ranch and Heavy Chevy, respectively, were decked out in trucker caps and rocked their best Mid-South accents, backed by lively commentary from sapphire_in_pink (Dispatch Diva), Buffalo Boone, and chibicarrera (The Godfather) serving as the host.
Buffalo Boone has become quite the star within the GDQ community, all thanks to his wild Texas antics, and the energy from the get-go was absolutely electric. But it quickly became apparent that this wasn’t going to be a pristine showcase of speedrunning finesse. For one, the in-game clock began in pitch darkness, making visibility an immediate concern. And to really kick things off, Big Ranch managed to flip her truck sideways less than a minute into the race.
If you’re picking up on the chaos, do yourself a favor and click play on the video below—letting this surreal journey wash over you is totally worth it. But things only intensified. Barely ten minutes in, Big Ranch decided to check the map a bit too long and slammed into a guardrail. This mishap turned out to create a game-breaking scenario.
Big Ranch’s rig got so stuck in that guardrail, the game believed she was still driving, which made it impossible to open the menu and call for a tow truck or warp to another spot. Minutes ticked away. Blame was humorously placed on an Etsy witch, real or otherwise. All parties involved were scrambling for a solution, but nothing seemed to work. As the in-game dawn broke, participants and the audience united for a passionate rendition of “Life Is a Highway.”
Buffalo Boone maintained the upbeat spirit by pushing for “donies” to keep coming in and exuberantly shouting “yee-haw” at every chance. Eventually, Heavy Chevy decided to reverse back towards Big Ranch, hoping to ram into her truck and free it from its glitchy prison. Multiple collisions had no effect. In a moment of confusion, the host even asked, “Is this yuri?” But after some momentum was gained, Heavy Chevy made a pivotal crash into the guardrail—embedding his truck along with Big Ranch’s. The GDQ audience erupted into applause.
Miraculously, this accident reset the physics, allowing both truckers to finally call for a tow and escape their unwanted anchorage. Buffalo Boone jubilantly declared, “The Etsy witch has saved us!” The drivers agreed on a new destination, settling in to just cruise through their remaining estimated 35 minutes to wrap things up.
You’d think by this point nothing wilder could transpire. Surely, there’s no punchline potent enough to catapult this run further into the chaotic annals of GDQ history. Yet, the finish was nothing short of outrageous: Heavy Chevy collided with Big Ranch in such a way that her truck flipped backward into the ground, nose skyward. The crowd couldn’t help but chant, “Trucks! Trucks! Trucks!”
The Godfather quipped, “This is yuri, y’all. This right here is yuri!” Buffalo Boone wrapped up the event by saying, “That’s the most yeein’-haw thing I’ve ever seen in my life.” It’s hard to argue with that.
