The latest update for Animal Crossing: New Horizons has a feature that slipped under the radar in the announcement trailer, buried in a brief mention on Nintendo’s site. Fans have eagerly awaited this update, especially given how the game shifted focus from traditional gameplay to include extensive crafting and building elements right from the start. While delightful, this approach raised a few eyebrows, particularly since the inventory system made crafting feel a bit clunky, requiring players to juggle materials manually and craft items one at a time.
After four long years of anticipation, Nintendo has finally confirmed a substantial update for Animal Crossing: New Horizons as well as a version for the upcoming Switch 2. Although the trailer teased a much-desired bulk crafting feature, there was no detailed confirmation of other similar enhancements. It seems that Nintendo didn’t deem it noteworthy enough for a proper highlight.
Surprise Features Unveiled
In a surprising twist, Nintendo also unveiled a significant update for Pikmin 4, one that introduces new difficulties and special Pikmin, yet curiously, no enhancements for the Switch 2. Meanwhile, true fans of Animal Crossing: New Horizons have taken to unconventional methods, like forming a “summoning circle,” all to express their hopes for the future during the recent Nintendo Direct.
Notably, the upcoming update will allow players to craft items directly from their storage, such a game-changer! No more need to empty your pockets before you can craft anything. As pointed out by a Twitter user, this monumental update was barely mentioned in the trailer.
The information was instead tucked away on the game’s page for the Switch 2 Edition upgrade pack, stating: “The free update is available to all Animal Crossing: New Horizons players and includes a few more additions to make crafting items and managing your island a little easier. You can now craft items in batches, pulling materials directly from your storage.”
With this casual confirmation of features fans have long been asking for, reactions on social media have been strong. One fan tweeted, “That’s the number one thing I’ve been asking for and they just don’t mention it????” While another simply exclaimed, “Holy crap, it’s about time!”
Some players are even so inspired that they’re planning to wipe their 1,000-hour islands clean to experience the Switch 2 update fresh. Who would have thought restoring their debt to Tom Nook could feel this thrilling?
