Obsidian’s pint-sized garden survival adventure Grounded is back with its big 1.2 update, this time adding the likes of wasps, a construction gnat (exactly what it sounds like), and Steam Deck verification, fixing some previously troublesome issues on Valve’s handheld. Starting with Steam Deck verification, 1.2 remedies a range of problems, meaning initial loading and log-in should now function properly, prompts should no longer flicker between gamepad and mouse/keyboard controls, and the virtual keyboard should now correctly appear as needed. Obsidian has also optimised and tuned Grounded’s default graphics settings on Steam Deck for a more “enjoyable experience”. …

The US Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals has upheld a 2021 ruling on Epic Games’ antitrust lawsuit against Apple, which both parties had appealed. Epic launched its lawsuit against the iPhone maker in August 2020, following the company’s decision to revoke Epic’s Fortnite developer account, blocking the battle royale game from being distributed on its devices. Apple made the move after Epic deliberately circumvented contractually mandated App Store payment mechanisms within its Fortnite iOS app, which would have allowed it to avoid Apple’s 30 percent platform fees. The following year, California’s Judge Yvonne Gonzalez-Rogers ruled against Epic…
A Resident Evil 4 fan has made a real-life recreation of Leon Kennedy’s attache case to show how Leon’s items would “scale in real life”. The recreation – which takes a screenshot of a late-game Kennedy loadout as its source – is fantastically faithful, including eggs, a “fish”, guns with their attachments, as well as ammo and health items, and suggests that in real life, the case that holds Leon’s inventory would be prohibtively enormous. You can check out the fantastic photograph – which was shared on Reddit – right here (thanks, TheGamer): How the RE4 attache case would scale…

Wild Hearts’ latest free, post-launch content update is now live. “There’s been so much happening in the world of Wild Hearts recently,” the team explains. “We deployed a PC crash hotfix and a Claw Blade & Bow Rebalance patch last week. So much to share and we haven’t even gotten to what’s in today’s content update!” The Wild Hearts video review shows off everything that’s great – and not so great – about the game and its various versions. “Deathhaze Gloombeak soars into Akikure Canyon, along with a new title and a new talisman skill for those able to reach…
Atari has whipped out its wallet and snapped up the intellectual property rights to over 100 retro games from the 80s and 90s, including Bubsy, Demolition Racer, and more. Specifically, Atari’s new acquisitions span the PC and console game catalogues of publishers Micropose, Infogrames, Accolade, with Atari also now owning the Accolade trademark. Sadly, the company hasn’t shared a full list of the retro IP it now owns after its most recent splurge, so there’ll be no time for lengthy bouts of nostalgia here – but its announcement did at least call out the aforementioned Bubsy and…
Epic Games has gripped another studio in a permanent money hug, this time acquiring Horizon Chase Turbo developer Aquiris to work on Fortnite. The Brazil-based Aquiris was founded in 2007 and went on to develop the well-received Wonderbox: The Adventure Maker and Looney Tunes World of Mayhem for mobile, as well as its retro-inspired arcade racer Horizon Chase which released in 2015. A much-expanded – and critically acclaimed – follow-up, Horizon Chase Turbo, arrived in 2018, whisking the series from mobile to PC and consoles, and Aquiris launched a third entry in the series, Horizon Chase 2,…

Multiple Mario games have seen their position in the UK boxed charts climb following the success of the Super Mario Bros. Movie (which is now the biggest video game adaptation ever). Perhaps this isn’t a huge surprise – after all, when I saw the film over the weekend, several Switch game trailers played before the movie began, including one for Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom. Mario Kart 8: Deluxe, Super Mario Odyssey and New Super Mario Bros U Deluxe all made the UK physical chart top 10 this week, with Mario Kart 8: Deluxe currently sitting at number…
